Food at ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵ

Food

is the ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵ's catering partner, who are an award-winning catering company. They specialise in the independent school sector.  Since their introduction a number of improvements and changes have taken place, both to the food and menus on offer. With the recent completion of the ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵs new dining facilities which make the dining experience more ergonomically efficient, there is a fresh and contemporary feel to the dining halls,  with ample space for staff and pupils to move around in when choosing their meal. There is a three-week rolling menu for the Pre-Prep, Prep and Senior that changes each term, and although this can occasionally be subject to some variation, the general format remains the same.

Almost all of the food on offer is cooked from scratch, using fresh ingredients and local suppliers wherever possible. We happily cater for pupils with special dietary needs such as dairy/lactose intolerance, gluten-free diets and halal food. Simon Illingworth, the Catering General Manager, welcomes the opportunity to talk both to parents and pupils about any special dietary needs or concerns that they may have. Please call him on 01527 579679 ext 380 or email sillingworth@bromsgrove-school.co.uk

Breakfast

A continental and a full cooked breakfast is on offer on all teaching days, and a continental breakfast on Sundays.

Lunch

On all teaching days, lunch options include two hot meat choices, a vegetarian choice, soup and bread, a salad bar, a fresh fruit and yoghurt bar and a hot pudding. In addition, two theatre-style deli-bars offer different options such as oriental noodles, paninis,  on different days of the week. On Sundays, the ever-popular brunch is on offer between 11.00am and 1.00pm.

Supper

The format for supper is similar to that of lunch, with various hot options, a salad bar and dessert.

Theme days and menus

We always ensure that we provide regular theme menus to help provide the pupils as much choice and variety as possible. Themes have included The ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵ Banger – where pupils help choose a bespoke school sausage from a local butcher,  Healthy eating weeks, Pancake Day, Burns Night, Chinese New Year, pasta and sushi demonstrations and international speciality dishes - Spanish tapas being a favourite! In December Holroyd Howe presented a Christmas theme evening to the ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵ boarding pupils.

The Dining Hall

All pupils eat centrally in either the Senior ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵ Dining Hall or the Preparatory ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵ Dining Hall. Meal choices are varied and cater for the diversity of nationalities and for special diets.

Cafe 1553

Cafe 1553, located within the Sports Centre, opened in 2012 for the use of pupils, staff, families and visitors to the ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵ. Open during term time, it offers a relaxed place for boarders to meet after ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵ and for parents to enjoy a hot or cold drink and snack whilst waiting for their children after ¶¹ÄÌÊÓƵ or on Saturday after matches.

The Cafe offers a wide range of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, paninis, cakes and other snacks.
